GEDDY LEE
DIRECTOR
Geddy Lee is a wine-loving philanthropist, collector and working musician, who has been an active board member of Grapes for Humanity since 2001.
As the lead singer and bass player in world-renowned rock-trio RUSH, Lee has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada, received the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award and was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, marking a successful music career spanning over 40 years.
Introduced to wine in the late 70s while on tour, Lee and his bandmate Alex Lifeson cultivated a passion for wine that continues to this day. Their collaboration on wine-related fundraising events, including the Grapes Under Pressure series, has significantly contributed to Grapes for Humanity. Notably, Lee’s contributions over the years – including auction items from last year, which accounted for half of the funds raised – have helped the organization generate millions of dollars to date.
Due to his extensive contributions, The Geddy Lee Scholarship was started in 2011 that is awarded annually to a second-year student in Niagara College’s Wine & Viticulture Technician program.
