LAVALLA SCHOOL

What they do:

Lavalla Primary School, established in 1998, provides education for children with physical disabilities. As a government-registered boarding school, students take the National Grade 6 Examinations. While MSC is not their primary carer, Lavalla offers an inclusive environment where students focus on their abilities, develop talents, and build resilience for life in broader society. Many students attend Lavalla because local schools are inaccessible due to infrastructure barriers (e.g., wheelchair ramps, accessible toilets) and societal attitudes toward disabilities. Lavalla ensures they receive the education and support unavailable at home.

The project:

Grapes for Humanity has supported the construction and upkeep of dormitories and a skills training center in Cambodia to improve the quality of life for physically handicapped students. This ongoing project, continuously funded by our sister organization, Grapes for Humanity International, led by Arlene Willis, provides safe, accessible housing and vocational training in areas such as handicrafts, computer skills, and agriculture. By empowering students with marketable skills and fostering independence, this initiative aligns with our mission to create sustainable opportunities and drive positive societal change.
